Correct procedure to replace CMOS battery

Question

I'm about finished upgrading an old but like new Inspiron 530 for a granddaughter, Have added some memory and taken it from Vista to Win 10 with no problem. Thanks to some help from this board on the bios I finally convinced the bios that the computer doesn't have 3.5 floppy. It now starts up and operates smoothly. The last thing I'm going to do is put in a new cmos battery. The 530 instructions say to record all the info on setup screens when you start. I reolaced a battery on another computer a few years back and didn't record anything. All went well and it operated normally. Could an expert tell me the best way to replace this battery, as it lost a little time the last couple of days when it was uplugged.. I don't want to screw anything up since its working smoothly now. I have a new, correct, Energizer lithium batt for it. Thanks!

Best to copy all the settings first, because removing the battery will reset BIOS to its defaults and the defaults may not be suitable for your setup.

For one thing, the BIOS defaults will enable the floppy drive controller again so, at minimum, you're going to have to turn it off again, since you don't appear to have a floppy drive installed in this PC...

Thanks Ron. Took pics with phone, changed battery and the only thing I had to change was to again tell it there was no floppy. All is well,
