Device drivers
Need help with a new Inspiron 3030 that replaced an older Dell Win-10 machine.
Primarily used to connect to ham radio equipment, running numerous software products...they worked well with the Win-10 machine, using a USB port connected to the radio.
With the Win-11 (Pro) machine, the all of the software packages no Com ports available.
I ran the Dell Quick check utility, using the computer Service Tag info...it recognized the machine. When I tried to update the drivers, it said everything was current, but the Quick Check showed a failure on the Standard, Enhanced and USB Status ports. Updating made no change.
In the 3030 Device Mgr, it says the drivers are not installed for the Standard & Enhanced ports (Code 28) but it can't find any on the machine when I attempt to update.
Everything worked fine with the previous Dell...pulling my hair out over this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention....
The USB ports work OK for flash drive sticks and a Logitech wireless mouse & keyboard dongle.

Information on adding COM ports to Windows 11 from Microsoft:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/no-com-ports-in-windows-11/dd854eca-2b42-4c82-a785-86943163e703
Failing that,
Check with the manufacturer of the hardware about the software you use -- it may need an update or an upgrade to work with Windows 11.

Would it help to set Win 11 to run your software in Compatibility Mode for Win 10?

Thanks for the replies.
I found that I needed to download a couple of USB drivers from Silicon Labs. I did so and now have both Standard and Enhanced Com ports available, so I can now communicate with my Yaesu FTdx101MP ham radio.
Took lots of hair-pulling to get here...I had forgotten I had to do the same with the old Win-10 machine.
Cheers, Vic

Glad you found the drivers. That's a pretty fancy ham rig.
I collected ham radio call sign cards when I was a kid. Put together a DIY Remco ham radio receiver kit and ran antenna wire from bedroom window to backyard tree.
The good ole days before PCs, cell phones, game boxes, etc..!

@RoHe
Yeah, I've had many over the years. This time, rather than go for the bargain, I got the one "I wished I'd gotten". Amazing radio...
