Dimension 8300, graphics card replacement
I have a Dimension 8300 I purchased around 2003. I replaced the graphics card years ago with a Radeon HD2400 Pro 512MB AGP card and it worked fine. That card is now apparently bad and I need to replace it. I want to be able to just install the card and not do anything else with BIOs, etc. I am not gaming on the PC, it is just for file storage, viewing photos and playing music. Would be good if could play standard DVD movies. If I can find the same card nut in 256MB would that be o? Other suggestions? I just want the thing to work.
Thanks in advance - Tom

You can look for the same card on ebay. Like $50 or less. Take your pick.

You would be better off getting a newer Optiplex specifically a GX620 Tower that has PCI-E video and can use MSDOS all the way thru windows 10.
Buying an AGP card at this point is pointless and Youtube and other ztreaming video will struggle if it plays at all.
The GX620 will be minimum 4 to 5x faster than what you have now and will run all of the old software on the 8300.
