G5 5000 CPU upgrade
Hi all recently I have purchased a used G5 with 500W PSU and a i5 10400f
I feel the CPU is a little underwhelming for me and was hoping to upgrade the CPU.
I have 2 questions:
1, Can I upgrade this to 10900kf or 11900kf?
2, would I need liquid cooling for these CPU

Yes to 10900kf, no to 11900kf per G5 5000 spec.
the kF cpu have 125W TDP, for which your current heatsink cannot handle. You need to upgrade cooler to a better air cooler or liquid cooling (AIO).

Yea, I saw that link and understand about the heatsink. But is there a reason the 5000 can't take the 11900kf? Since it is the same socket?

It should since its optioned just fine with the XPS 8940! Just why would you since all I ever hear is about how much better the 10th generation is over the 11th.
Also, you’re not going to get usage of the Gen 4 PCIe abilities because of the Dell motherboard.

Hello,
Were you able to upgrade to 11th Gen Intel CPU? I have the same PC with H470 chipset.
