I5459-4020 Processor Upgrade
I have an Inspiron I5459-4020 with chipset h110 and socket FCLGA1151. Original i5-6400T processor isn't compatible with Windows 11. This is the only thing keeping me from the OS upgrade.
It looks like the i7-7700 series might work with this motherboard, looking for confirmation on this. I can purchase the 7700K processor for around $400 (+/-) which is way cheaper than finding a new machine with compatible stats running Windows Pro. Confirmation or alternative suggestions greatly appreciated.

JOcean is correct that three 7th gen made it to the Windows 11 processor list:
Intel® Core™ i7-7800X Intel® Core™ i7-7820HQ[1] Intel® Core™ i7-7820X none of these work on your pc with H110 chipset. they require a socket different from LGA1151.
your motherboard does not support 8th or higher gen Intel cpu. This incompatibility is made by Intel. Motherboard has to be at least 300 series to support those cpu. your motherboard H110 is 100 series.

You are correct... guess I was looking at the wrong list this morning. My computer hasn't seen a ton of use over the last few years so just trying to extend the life as long as possible. Getting another system with these stats would be close to a grand, which is more than I can do.
I know enough to do the physical labor, just uncertain about how to find compatible parts. Would any of the supported processors (i5 minimum) work on this motherboard? Appreciate any information you might be able to provide.

This is a list of the supported processors for Windows 11 and the i7-7700 is not on the list. There are only 3 generation 7 CPUs on the list and one of them only on 2 specific systems. The other 2 are i7-7800 series but are not supported by your chipset according to Intel.
I have mentioned this a number of times in the forum but could you install Windows 11 using the media creation tool found here (second choice)? Probably but keep in mind that MS will not support your system which means at the least no OS updates and possibly no security updates. Also should you require tech support Dell support techs will insist that you reinstall Windows 10 before they will offer assistance.
