Inspiron 20 3048, CPU upgrade success or fail?
Hello Dell Community, I plan on upgrading my Dell Inspiron 20 3048 processor to an i5-4570T. I don’t know if it will be successful. But what will happen if I was unsuccessful? Will the PC not boot or the BIOS reject it and not boot into Windows? I want to know what will happen. I also bought an i3-4170T just in case it was unsuccessful. I already flashed the latest BIOS version. I only want to know what happens when the i5-4570T is not compatible with my PC BIOS.

If cpu not supported by bios, either No POST (no video at all), or bios may show error: this processor is not supported. It will not pass the pre-boot firmware test, so you would not even reach the boot stage. It is like you could not even pass security check. If pre-boot test is passed, then bios will look for a bootable device to load master boot record.

I previously made another thread. Those are CPUs Dell tested in the Inspiron 20 3048. They might not have tested the i5-4570T. I am going for the gamble. If it was unsuccessful, I will use the i3-4170T which I will buy along with the i5-4570T. Thank you for your reply.
