Inspiron 24-3475 AIO, brutally slow, #2

I have the same problem. Incredibly frustrating with all the money I spent on it. Did you resolve your issues? If so, how?

Already answered in 2 posts starting here from 2018:

These entry-level All-In-Ones are fairly slow to begin with.
They can get REALLY-SLOW with just a spinning-HDD inside.

EDIT: And while Windows-10 will run on 4gb, 8gb is much better/faster.

Hi,

I too have been having issues for some time now with this AIO model (3475) | 8GB RAM, AMD 9 - I read around for months now with no solution for this computer. The CPU is at 100% most of the time and it feels like it's going to take off or transform into something with the fan blowing so much and fast all the time. I checked on application from Dell installed to see if it was affecting anything but it was not present, which users reported causing slow internet connection or connection throttling.

What I have done so far previous to this last re-install of Windows 10.

disables any started item items not needed
stopped unnecessary junks from running also that wasn't System/Windows services, etc.
debloated the system
Stopped several things as per recommendations on sites and also on Youtube to help with the CPU.
download speed with ANY browser was horrible. A 3G would be better connection that what this computerr was able to process when downloading or uploading anything. Just horrible!

after making all these changes, computer gave be the new blue screen of deal with a sad face. Nothing could be done - tried repair, etc. did chkdsk /r/f  - no issues found nor needed fixing.

2nd time around, I downloaded image from Dell and installed with USB drive. PC crashed 1 day later after Windows Updates and light use (browsing the internet).

3rd time around - Installed Windows then installed Ubuntu ver 19. Windows was still horrible - Ubuntu seemed OK for a little but but still struggle to run as smooth as expected. My Raspberry Pi runs a lot better compared to this computer. Anyway, eventually it crashed again.

Now, on my 4th time around of OS re-installed - I reinstalled Windows Directly from MS - made image on USB stick to install, etc. Installed Ubuntu ver 20. Wifi for some odd miracle started working better at this point - Download speeds are over 100 Mbps compared to before 3-10Mbps download speeds. It was just horrible. After doing some testing with download speed, processor, etc. I did:

checkdsk - no issues
sfc /scannow - no issues

I gave it more virtual from System - gave it Max as per recommendation considering the RAM installed.

this computer CPU is just not good period. I honestly have wasted to much time reading and trying to find a solution as I really like the screen size and crispiness - but the slowness is just incredibly bad and the fan running 100% all the time is just not good.

I am at a loss as to what else to try for this computer. I did see that other people upgrades to a SDD but considering the RAM and version of this processor, there shouldnt be a need to spend more money on a SDD.

there are many videos on Youtube about this as well, for whoever is dealing with 100% CPU usage as I have been but unfortunately, this has not helped me but perhaps might help you.

If anyone that care from Dell read this, it seems that this has been going on for too long with any possible solution for many. I had many dells in the past - personally and at work as it was our preferred machine but this time, your team sure dropped the ball. It is unfortunate.

Mine is going slow and I have 8gb of ram + SSD.  I think whoever I got it from on ebay already did that as part of a refurb.   I do not think I am hitting the wall on Ram.  The issue is video (not HD...like Zoom calls you would use the embedded webcam for)  It is slow anyway but you can not even type when Zoom is going.

I am wondering if there is a processor upgrade available???  That is where I am hitting the wall.  It hits 100% CPU use and you can not even click a gmail link.  There is virtually nothing running in the background.  We just got it last night and have not installed anything and have uninstalled a bunch of background apps.

@str8bacardil  - Would help if you told us what CPU you have now....

Dell validated these AMD CPUs, but look around to see if anyone has successfully upgraded with a different CPU:
AMD E2-9000E
AMD A6-9225
AMD A9-9425

They've validated these DDR4 RAM configs:
4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB
1866 MHz (E2 processor)
2133 MHz (A6 and A9 processors)

@str8bacardil   - Just tell us which processor you have, without screen shots which are impossible to read...

Do you know if all the Dell drivers are installed?  Since you got this PC on ebay, it's hard to know what SSD was installed, but Dell is offering firmware updates for the SDDs that Dell would have installed in this model.

Reboot and immediately start tapping F2 to open BIOS setup. See how much RAM is recognized by BIOS. Then exit and reboot. See how much RAM Windows says is installed and available. You can use Start>Run>msinfo32.exe to check how much total physical RAM is recognized and how much is available.

How much junk is loading at boot and running in the background? Have you scanned thoroughly for malware?
