Ram Upgrade Dell G5

Hello, does anyone know if I would be able upgrade my current ram of 1x16g 2666 MHz to 2x8gb 3000 MHz, because on the dell page it says that the max speed of ram a Dell G5 with an i5 can have is 2666 Mhz. So do you guys think it would work with 2x8gb 3000 MHz ram? Thanks

Exactly which G5 do you have, 5000 or 5090?

What's the point of replacing 1x 16 GB with 2x 8 GB of RAM? You'll still only have 16 GB of total RAM.  And even if it's 2x 8 GB of 3000 MHz RAM, it can only run at 2666 MHz, not at 3000 MHz, because that's the limitation with an i5 CPU.

So you won't see a major performance improvements, even though 2x 8 GB can run in dual channel mode, while 1x 16 can only run in single channel mode.
