Ram Upgrade Issue
Recently decided to add another stick on RAM in the 2nd slot of my Inspiron 7773. 1st slot came with 2400t 16gb Samsung RAM. So I bought 2400t 4gb Samsung RAM stick to add for a total of 20gb with the added benefit of dual channel.
I installed the RAM in the 2nd slot and turned the laptop on and got met with 2 amber and 5 white lights, which indicate "Invalid Memory Installed". I tried booting with the 4gb ram in the 1st slot alone and got met with the same error code.
Is the RAM likely broken or is it not compatible with the laptop?

20GB is not a compatible RAM total per the support page. If the system boots fine with the 16GB module but not the 4GB then it is more than likely not compatible RAM. Also if you install a 4 GB RAM module you will only see dual channel on the 4GB and 4GB of the 16GB module the other 12 would have run in single channel. Having 2 RAM modules does not mean you have dual channel on all 20GB, if it were a compatible RAM total.

To add to the other reply, even if the system will boot with 16+4, only 8G of your 20G RAM will be running at full bandwidth. The other 12 will be running at half-bandwidth.
If you want dual channel operation (or seemingly, operation at all), return the 4G module and purchase a second, 16 G module. With 2X16 the system will run at full bandwidth on all installed RAM.
