Upgrade Ram?

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my motherboard "Dell ODXJD9 " I can't seem to find any information about this motherboard online. Does anyone know if it would support an additional 32GB DDR4-3600MHz or 16GB DDR4-3200MHz? Right Now I have (2x8)16GB DDR4- 2666MHz.

Your motherboard is for Dell G5 5090

https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron-Desktops/Dell-G5-5090-0DXJD9-U3E1-motherboard-ram-compatibility/td-p/7559531

memory configuration validated:

  • 8 GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz (1 x 8 GB)
  • 16 GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz (2 x 8 GB)
  • 32 GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz (2 x 16 GB)
  • 64 GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz (4 x 16 GB)

crucial claims their 3200 MHz ram is 100% compatible w g5. You can call them if 3200 spec is guaranteed or not (if not do you get your $ back).  https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k8g36c16u4r/ct17093789

@giordan0 Finally purchased and it is compatible. I went with the 3200mhz but it still is only running at 2666mhz. Are you having the same issue?

Yes it will only run at 2666Mhz (mines is a locked processor and cannot be OC).

@Adamal85 - The RAM will support speeds up to 3200, but if your system only runs at 2666 then it will run at that speed. Sort of like having a Ferrari capable of 200mph, but you're in traffic doing 55.....it *can* run faster, but it's limited by other factors.

I'm buying the same set of RAM soon - glad to hear it's running at 2666, some users have reported their other brands of RAM only running at 2133.

Maybe @Anonymous would be kind enough to update the bios with the needed settings to run gaming memory on a GAMING laptop.

Same issue. They fail to clearly state it only runs at 3200 on Intel's XMP profiles.
