Question

First, the main battery is not working and I always use the AC power.

I have changed the plastic base of my Inspiron 15r and stripped the motherboard, but when I start the windows it emits 5 beeps then I hold the power button to force shutdown and reopen it, the laptop gives the Dell logo and restarts automatically then opens appropriately. It happens only once time at the beginning of each day when all the night the laptop is closed and unplugged AC power and also the main battery. The date and time are confusing (as the RTC operates for only a few hours after unplugging the AC power) and I have to set them day by day also for the first time I open it after an unplugged AC power all night.

Today I set the AC power plugged all night and in the morning when opening the laptop there is no beeps but the date and time are confusing.

Pressing F12 and going through the diagnosis I got two errors, Hard Drive 0 Error code 2000-0142 validation 101972 short self-test unsuccessful, and Optical Drive 0 Error code 2000-0147 validation 127202 OPU test failed.

Sometimes when I shutdown the laptop it gives an error message for a few seconds Exception Processing Message 0xc0000005 - Unexpected Parameters.

I changed the CMOS battery but nothing new. Is there an issue that happened when changing the base with ICs or the RTC circuit itself or grounding the entire board or the hard drive actually it works properly and I'm writing now using the laptop. Note when assembling the board there was a stuck screw on one of those under the keyboard and I hardly solved it and heard a little sound but now it is assembled well.

You're in for at least a replacement system board and hard drive -- but a 15R would have to be between the high single digits to over 10 years old, so retiring the system in favor of a new(er) replacement is probably a more economically sensible option.

and I always use the AC power - typically mosfet issue with the motherboard or blown fuse..

Dear Mahmoud I feel for you. Considering my first laptop was 15r n5110. i used it till 2 years back. When i upgraded it to thinkpad e14 gen2.

Now with that many error codes its time to retire the device. no VFM now since you have used it to its fruition.

Its unwise now putting any time nor money into it considering its technically obsolesced.

I suggest you back up your critical data from it using external sata cable if possible. i was lucky enough to do that before my system becoming totally toast.

But if you want to repair it STILL. if its done under 20-40$ thats the MAX (depends on your country of residence). go for it. happy salvaging.
