7570 - ASF2 Force off message
Hi All,
Hoping for some advice with an issue I’m seeing with my Windows 10 Dell 7570 laptop. It’s frequently powering off randomly. In the Power logs in the BIOS I’m seeing the dreaded ASF2 Force off message. The windows event logs only show unexpected shutdown events nothing relating to a hardware failure. I’ve had a look through the forums and the internet and tried everything I can find but having no luck. Things I’ve tried so far:
- Replaced laptop battery
- Disconnected CMOS battery and reconnected
- Ran quick and full diagnostics from bootup menu – all clear
- Disable C-States in BIOS
- Reset BIOS settings to default
- Also tried to downgrade BIOS to see if that helped
- Ensured I’ve installed all of the latest windows patches and dell drivers
- Uninstalled and re-installed Intel Graphics Driver
- Ran sfc /scannow and DISM
It’s a fairly new laptop but the warranty ran out recently so I’m bit concerned I’ve got a big repair bill coming up
Anything you can suggest to try I’ll give it a go!
Thanks for reading,
Chris

Hi All, just in addition to this, when booted into safe mode I haven't seen the same crash which is interesting. I rebuilt my laptop completely from the recovery partition, updated all the latest drivers from Dell Update and it's happening again any ideas on how I might narrow down the cause at all?

I have the same problem after add 2.5 ssd my pc shut down randomly
I would suggest to do it clean installation windows 10 in second phase
But first following these steps
In battery settings use ''HIGH PERFORMANCE''
In advance power plan settings Turn Off Hard Disk After set ''NEVER'' in sleep mode set ''NEVER''
In bios turn off ''C-STATES''
Delete ''INTEL RAPID TECHNOLOGY''
Use latest bios firmware
Maybe it works for you!

Same exact issue but with XPS 15 9570
I replaced the battery 3 times so I am sure it's not the battery, disabling turbo seems to fix the issue but that's a lot of performance lost, very disappointing when you pay over 1.2k for a laptop. I found that In throttle stop if I disable turbo it works fine or even if I disable it in BIOS
also set the throttle stop CPU IccMax to 55 and below stops the crashing, the issue seems to start when the CPU tries to achieve a clock above 3.2ghz on battery. with AC on there are no issues. The biggest problem is pc won't boot from the battery without disabling turbo in BIOS, it seems to immediately crash as windows are loading, and after it crashes the pc won't power on without power cycling or replugging in the AC connector.
For me the issue started when I upgraded to the latest BIOS, reverting didn't fix the issue after that, I believe the suspect is the Intel ME possibly corrupted or mishandled by windows

I experienced this issue with both an XPS 9570 and a Precision 5530 (more-or-less the same machine). Replacing the CMOS battery solved the issue for me – more details here.
