battery not charging

i upgraded my dell laptop with a larger battery. (yes i made sure it was compatible) the thing will not charge.

i did all the usual troubleshooting:

BIOS updated

Re sitted battery

Trialed original battery to test the AC

ECM reset

left overnight

diagnostic check came back all clear

system finds the battery and AC and confirms everything

so far nothing has worked
