Battery not installed while on AC Power supply
I have a Inspiron 15 (5578). When I run the system on battery, it works fine, all the way down to out of power. When I have it on the charger, it works as long as I'm using it but if I leave it for a short period of time, I return to an eSupport page that says hard drive not installed. I've swapped the battery and tried a different charger, same result. I've run ePSA and it found no problems. I've played with BIOS settings and Power configuration in Windows 10 but no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds like a CMOS battery that may be getting weak. Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery yet? The procedure is here but that takes the CMOS battery with the attached wires and plug. You can find those here.
