Battery not recognized

a few months back my laptop ran into a problem where it wouldn't turn on when it is not plugged in, after a few weeks it started shutting down on its own after giving me a "low battery" warning even when I had it plugged in the laptop also started running slower and keeps heating up very quickly, I tried running a troubleshooter but nothing came up, every time i turn on the computer i get the BIOS warning "pc couldn't start properly" when I tried to find the problem online it said that since my battery LED was alternating between amber and white light it meant that my battery AC adapter was unrecognized and unsupported by dell, I dont know how since I never changed the battery. now the led stopped lighting up altogether and the battery life symbol on the bottom right corner of the screen on the taskbar keeps disappearing and reappearing, I got this laptop in September 2020 so it shouldn't be that old how can i fix it?

First thing to try is a new, OEM AC adapter.  The battery will not charge if the adapter is unrecognized.

It sounds like you are having a problem with your laptop's battery. Here are some things you can try to fix it:

  1. Restart your laptop. This may seem like a simple solution, but it can often fix minor problems.
  2. Check the battery connections. Make sure the battery is properly connected to the laptop. You may need to remove and reinsert the battery to make sure it is seated properly.
  3. Update your battery drivers. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause problems with your laptop's battery. You can update your drivers through Device Manager.
  4. Reset the battery sensor. This can sometimes fix problems with the battery not being recognized. To do this, follow these steps:
    • Shut down your laptop.
    • Unplug the power adapter.
    • Remove the battery.
    • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery.
    • Connect the power adapter.
    • Turn on your laptop.
  5. Replace the battery. If you have tried all of the above and your laptop's battery is still not working properly, you may need to replace it.
