Hey
So here is my issue: after I updated the AMD videocard with the latest driver through Dell Suport Assist, my screen simply became black and wont come back to normal. I cant simply do anything with my laptop like this.

I just experienced the same thing...
I cannot believe that my new laptop is unresponsively dead because of an update that Dell itself recommended my to do. I don't even have two months with it!
I have unfinished work stuff on my laptop, and other info that simply cannot be lost.
Please answer on how to fix this as soon as possible...

Hi Moya!
I managed to fix it myself after a lot of headache and after contacting the support.
Although it was a shame the issue resulted out of an update by dell itself, the good thing about it is that the support assist app creates a “restauration point” before any update.
Anyway, try turning on your computer and then press F11 when you see the DELL logo. You will then reach one of the Bios screen. One of the options listed should be something regarding “maintence” or “assistance” (I dont remember exactly what it was). After you go for that option, you will go to a screen more “windows like” and there sould be an option letting you restart yout system through the latest restauration point created.
I have done it and It worked. I even eventually updated the AMD driver again but not through the same application (I used Dell update assistance instead).
I hope I may have been of some help...

I don't even get the dell logo. Just black screen. The computer is not that old and their update completely disabled it. Any advice?

Long story SHORT...........and you can read about whether to update or not, but I suggest leaving DELL suggested/recommended updates alone. ESPECIALLY the BIOS. If you have an independent video card, get the update directly from the mfg website. Or if a specific problem comes up for some reason or other, then seek DELL re-install driver.
Your system will run trouble free, just the way it came from the factory, for many years. Good Luck!

UPDATE:
I recently experienced THE EXACT SAME trouble. This time, though, I was the one who kind of provoked it.
Basically I went after the latest GPU driver to update directly from AMD website.
During the installation procedure, my screen went black (it was a dark screen with really low bright, barely visible).
The only possibility was to output the video onto an external display ( I used my TV).
Anyway, my first plan of action was to recover the system from the latest system restore point (since it worked last time). This time IT DIDNT!
I later tried to reinstall the prior version of the GPU driver, again with no success.
Hopefully I found a solution (which at least worked for me this time). I simply re-updated the BIOS. You can easily find it to download at Dell’s support area of the website.
Well, I just wanted to share this experience with anyone who might eventually face the same issue.
