Black & White lines with grayscale screen
Hi there everyone,
So this just happened out of the blue.I closed my laptop last night right before I went to bed.
When I woke up and turned it on, the laptop started up but the screen immediately came on with these black and white thin vertical lines and the screen was completely grayscale.
It slowly began to fade and go black on all four sides, as if the screen was slowly burning out.
I force shutdown by holding the power button, turned it on, but the same thing happens.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this or know what to do?
Thank you

I have seen issues like that with driver problems or GPU issues. You can try connecting to an external monitor and if the problem continues then it starts to look more like the GPU than the display screen. But first of all reboot the system and start tapping F12 right away and then choose full diagnostics. Watch for any display screen or GPU errors.

Thank you for replying so quickly!
I don’t have an external monitor but I was able to run a diagnostic through f12. The only issue/error that was shown was with my battery that needs to be replaced (“reaching the end of its useful life” I think it said).
But after the diagnostic the laptop came back on without a display issue. I was able to use it just fine, then within an hour it reverted back to the grey screen. It flashes in and out.

It's a hardware problem. Hopefully it's under warranty.
