Boot sequence

On most startups the DELL logo fails to display and I am unable to use the F2 or F12 function keys to get to the BIOS sector or the diagnostics screen.  If I press any function key anyway, the boot sequence freezes and remains in stasis until the esc key is pressed.  Then the system proceeds to a normal startup...

Anybody else having this problem?  ( DELL Inspiron 3471 )

I suspect your laptop is in hybrid sleep when you shut down.

Try disabling fast startup in power options and see if the issue disappears.

My device is not a laptop. It's a DELL Inspiron 3571, and I never turn it off while in sleep mode.  Also, I don't use "fast startup" as I am not in any big hurry when I sign on...

Hi,

Please check if your BIOS is up to date. The latest can be downloaded here.

You mentioned most startups, so I will assume there are times when you are able to go into BIOS. Please use Restore settings/Load defaults to restore the BIOS settings to Factory defaults.

Let us know if that helps.
