Boot up Error message 0xc000000d
I have the following error message on my Dell Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) laptop: Boot configuration data file is missing some required information File\Boot\BCD Error code 0xc000000d. I think it may have happened as a result of being powered down during a Windows update.
I have read a number of posts but am not clear if this is a Windows error or a hardware error. The system self-diagnostics using F12 seem to show a hard drive error but I have been able to copy all my data off the drive using a hard drive docking station connected to another computer so the hard drive does still work.
I have created a Dell bootable usb and it does boot to the c drive cursor but has the following message warning these files are missing:
\HIMEM.SYS
\RAMDRIVE.SYS
Is it likely the laptop can be fixed?

Could you please post the exact model of your system?
This page should help with your error, which was probably caused by powering down the system during the update. Secondly just because you can access the drive files does not mean the drive is working properly. If diagnostics returns a drive error then the drive could be failing. If you want to create a bootable Windows 10 USB drive I would suggest downloading from this site at Microsoft. Again I would suggest replacing the hard drive as yours could be giving you problems. And if you decide to replace it, think about an SSD. They are 5x faster than a mechanical drive and far more reliable.
