brand new laptop inspiron 3000 series freezing issue

hi ,

I have unfortunately bought a Dell laptop inspiron 3000 series. It started giving me issues like freezing at smallest of activity such as  opening any application. I tried several calls with DELL tech support team , they told me to do many things such as removing VLC media player , Chrome ( which was not accpetable ) , deleted some files , tried to restore system etc. , they also did some things by accessing my laptop , but nothing worked. Now it is refusing even to boot. Any suggestions ? it's only 15 days old and i haven't used it much.

Hello. I advise you to determine whether or not you want to return the laptop. If you bought it directly from Dell then you might only have 21 days from the date on the invoice. Time is running out if you want to return it.

If you keep it past the return period, Dell will not take it back even though it seems to be defective. Your only recourse then will be to have it repaired under the terms of the warranty.

I also have this exact same problem as you but on my Inspiron 15 7577. I strongly believe this is a software issue and here is why:

When booting into a Linux distro this problem does not occur for me. Also when I formatted my laptop with a fresh Windows install, I didn't experience this issue right up till a certain driver was installed. (I didn't pay full attention to which one is the culprit and I should have...)

Needless to say I speculate it has something to do with power management.

EDIT: After doing some more searching this looks like the culprit

Please list exact Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3558 (3000series), windows 10

If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the search box, and then stroll down to System Model. You should see it now.

In the meantime, you installed any Dell drivers (BIOS,Chipset, Video) and firmware from your Dell Product Support page?

The latest (Microsoft) windows updates are installed on the system?

Hi, my 3162 laptop was slow and I had only 6GB free in my 32GB eMMC drive. Now it is fast and I've 14GB  free in my OS drive. I fixed all problems since I did that:

I created a "Recovery USB Windows 10" using another Desktop PC.with "Media Creation Tool"

   I re-installed Windows10 using this USB.

When my PC was new, too much applis were already installed and took a lot of memory and process.

Now I instal just the applis I need and I'd configured Windows to install new programs in my microSD card.

I'm very happy now with my little PC.

I hope this help

The guy is telling you the laptop is not even booting and you reply by giving a link to a diagnostic program? Do you call this a tech support that respects customers?

Thank you for your message. I apologize for the inconvenience caused & I will be glad to assist you with this.

Does the computer freeze up after displaying the Dell logo? What is the status of the power button light, does the light blink amber or white?

Please try toggling the caps lock key & check if the light responds.

Please run a hardware diagnostic by following the video on this link & check if there is an error.

Hey.  I have the deepest sympathy for you and I bought the same laptop as you a few years ago.  The first thing you have to understand is that the way that you are using the computer is not the problem.  For example, if you're moving around your laptop a lot and you think that swift movement is causing problems, it's not; it's a laptop, which means that it should be made so that it can resist being moved around a lot.  I experience the same freezing issues several times a day on a daily basis, my disk space and memory are always maxed out in my Task Manager, and it's always responding slower than the movement of tectonic plates.  No amount of troubleshooting (updates, restarting your laptop, clearing cache, new drivers, uninstalling other anti-virus programs, etc.) will fix you issues and for good reason.  You must realize that the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop is made to be a  computer with minimal functionality.  As you can see with the replies to this question, Dell shows no care for pressing tech issues that should be fixed and simply want you to buy more of their  that you have to get replaced often so they can make more money out of you (this is a thing called "planned obsolescence."  Hope you've learned the same lesson as me—do your homework and check for reviews of other people having freezing issues when you buy a new laptop and (I may be biased because of the ineffably poor quality of my Inspiron 15 3000 series) don't buy from Dell in the first place.
