Cannot view boot options - only diagnostics test
I recently installed Kubuntu on my newish Inspiron 5301 laptop.
It initially worked a charm, I rebooted once after installing programs and setting some things up and all was good. On my second reboot however, I became unable to access my PC. I have reason to believe this a problem with Kubuntu, but I would still like to be able to use the dell boot screen properly.
When I boot, the Dell logo appears and persists. Sometimes, the Kubuntu logo will flash for a second early on. When I power off the laptop, the Kubuntu logo appears for a short while before the system shuts down.
After exhausting what limited options I had, I decided to just boot from USB again, however when I press F12, I am only able to access the "SupportAssist | On-board Diagnostics" page. From here, I can run a "QUICK TEST" and view the "RESULTS". I can also run an "ADVANCED TEST". For what it's worth, my laptop passes all these tests.
I cannot, however, select a boot option, or do any of the normal, actually useful, things that one might expect to be able to do from the boot menu.
This information is noted on the page:
| Service Tag | |
| BIOS Version | 1.8.1 |
| Version | ED.1.0.9 |

Can you access the BIOS and change the boot menu in the settings?

In which settings do you mean? The only thing I appear to able to do with my laptop at the moment is use the "SupportAssist | On-board Disagnostics" page. There are no settings available for me to modify there.

Instead of F12, try F2
Disable Secureboot and check
Most Linux BUILDS require Secure Boot to disable.
However I don't believe you are booting to F12 and getting only SupportAssist Diagnostics options. Share a snapshot of F12 page.
