If your system has a monochrome backlight now, you need to replace the keyboard assembly with the optional RGB unit. You cannot turn the former into the latter with software.
You would need to replace the palmrest assembly with one having an RGB keyboard backlight.
There's one on EBay now (link below).
Before buying, make sure you understand what's involved in replacing the part -- the entire system must be torn down completely to replace the palmrest-keyboard-touchpad unit.
