There are so many ways to alter a battery that the part number is not definitive -- batteries can appear genuine even when they've had cells replaced.
There is a data code in the part number string -- three digit field something like 2A6 -- what is that number (at least you'll then know how old the battery is)?

If it was purchased from Dell, or a seller like parts-people.com, it's genuine. If it was purchased anywhere else, only the seller can tell you.

Open a cmd prompt and type the command powercfg /batteryreport . Look for the file battery-report.html in your user directory. In that report check the section installed batteries.

Unless battery was purchased directly from Dell, it's no way to tell if battery is fake or genuine. Keep in mind, the original or genuine battery have these microchip to help detect counterfeit batteries. There are some sellers that have taken a microchip from a dead genuine battery and have inserted it into a fake battery. They also will print fake battery labels using a real Dell serial number from another Dell battery.
Now, there are some third-party or counterfeit batteries that will operate just as good as an original Dell battery. If battery is still in package, contact Seller to see if there's a Return or warranty policy on the battery. This way, if the battery doesn't work, you can easily return the battery.
If new battery is out the package, install battery to see if it will operate computer on battery power then check the status of battery health in the BIOS.

Please list Dell model number for further assistance:
Example: Dell model number; Dell Inspiron 7559
If you know, type msinfo32 onto the search box, stroll down to System Model in system information application, you should be able to see it now.
By the way, you purchased the battery from Ebay or Amazon?

Hi All,
Writing to informing you all, recently I have purchased dell Inspiron 15 3567 battery from Flipkart and literally shocked they are providing a copy battery in original price and to identification - Dell Executive told me given serial no. was already expired 2 years ago as per Dell records so they can't help in this matter and again by my misunderstanding so purchased next time from Jio Mart and same seller given a copy battery where no one can identify but again same Dell Executive told same things happen with Flipkart. Earlier, Dell batteries was manufacturing by Panasonic but currently all dell battery is manufacturing by LG Corp. After purchased dell battery, please check manufacturer.
