Code 2,8 LCD power rail failure. Replace system board, Dell G3 3500

Question

Hi to all, I have a Dell G3 3500, like a month ago I made a SSD upgrade to an M.2 of 1tb, the thing is that everything was going right, suddenly one day the caps lock led came on all the time and I got the code 2,8 on my power led, after that the M.2 SSD stopped working and the laptop did not found system on it to boot. I had to put another SSD on, and the laptop turned on with the old SSD and everything is working well, also I already run SupportAssist and everything is good with last updates, But I still with those two errors, any help on this? I have been using this laptop for 3 years now, generally the laptop is in a good condition, please assistance!!

@Guatavo​ The no post code of 2,8 indicates an LCD Power Rail failure. While systems may appear to work correctly during normal use, this is still a failure on the motherboard. See this video for no post troubleshooting. If the steps here have already been done, then you would want to look into replacing the motherboard. Further degradation may result in losing video or a failure to boot altogether.  Contact Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support Monday through Friday. Click the blue 'Get Help Now' on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them so that they can verify the ownership and warranty status. Support for Dell G3 15 3500 System diagnostic lights LED code 2,8 = LCD power rail failure. Replace system board. But the Opening Post says system is now fully functional, there is no LCD power rail failure. Please undertake a Hard Reset (Flea power release) to clear the BIOS chip of the previous error reporting.

Please try fixing the operating system using my PowerShell process described in Audio Driver Issues - Troubleshooter always resets these to work - Dell Community. Thank you.

Thank you very much, so, something I forgot to tell is that I already do that, also I already removed and put back the CMOS batt, I changed the RAM of position and to be sure I disconnected and connected the LCD Cable, and I still with the same led code... the strangest thing is that the laptop is Fully funcional and all the scans are correct, did anyone is having this problem?

I'm with the same problem.My DELL G3 3590 is fully funcional and the LED blinking 2,8 - System Board Error. My only proble is the batterry discarging fast because the years of use.

I also have this problem on a Precision 7550, everything is working but still the 2/8 blinking code about the power rail. Did someone manage to solve this?

same problem. 2-8 code on latitude 3410 laptop, accidentally after bumping(no dent or crack) my laptop on the door edge.. opened my laptop and remove everything attached like memory and such on the mobo and putting them back one by one.. the only thing it tuned on is when i removed my NVMe.. turns out the screw holder is little loose. even though everything holds fine.. i tried wiggling it while screwed.. using an old HDD 2.5 without the NVME. everything was fine..

Has anyone found a solution for this issue? I am experiencing exactly the same problem on my Dell G3 3500.

Whenever the laptop shows the 2 amber and 8 white LED error code (LCD Power Rail Failure), it also stops charging the battery. I have already replaced the battery, reset the BIOS, updated the BIOS, and taken the laptop to several technicians, but none of them have been able to fix the problem.

The strange thing is that the laptop works normally even while the LEDs are flashing. The display, keyboard, and operating system function as expected. The only noticeable issues are that the battery stops charging and the Caps Lock LED remains permanently lit, even though the Caps Lock key itself continues to work normally.

In addition, the system clock loses the date and time if the laptop remains powered off for a long period. Sometimes the laptop will not power on at all—no LEDs, no fan activity, and no signs of life.

Interestingly, whenever I reset the BIOS or perform a power drain by holding the power button for 40 seconds, the laptop starts charging normally again and the error disappears temporarily. However, after some time or after the laptop has been turned off for a while, the problem returns.

Has anyone experienced the same issue or found a permanent solution?
