Cyberlink Media Suite

Question

I recently bought a Dell external DVD drive which came with a copy of Cyberlink Media Suite.

I have tried installing this via the drive but always get a warning screen telling me the Administrator has blocked installation. I AM THE ONLY ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT ON THE iNSPIRON

I tried using a standard account to install but get the same message

If you're using an External DW316 drive, our engineering teams have suggested to download and install the file at this link.    For us to investigate the issue further kindly share this information below: A screenshot of the error message you encounter. The build information of CyberLink Media Suite, which can be found in the 'info.ini' file under the \CMS directory. The info.ini file should be located on the install disc that shipped with the drive. It's also possible the disc might have the full version on the label.

How about copying the DVD to a USB Thumb Drive and try to install that way? or simply create a folder named Install then copy the DVD to that folder and run it from there?

Somewhere you have a setting that is not allowing *.exe files from running from external drives. Perhaps on the DVD since its new to your computer. I tried copying the files and that didn't work. I tried right clicking and running as administrator and that didn't work. BUT running it from the command prompt DID work - see solution 4 under https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/an-administrator-has-blocked-you-from-running-this-app-how-to-fix-on-a-windows-10-pc/

@Freemon0c6855​ hello, did you manage to resolve this as I am having the same problem with a brand new Dell pc delivered this week whereby the Cyberlink Media Suite 12 will not install due to an administrator restricting me? I am the administrator so cant work it out. Thank you

Try right-clicking the Cyberlink setup.exe file and choosing Run as Administrator from the context menu...

@POBCOB -Is this the full retail version or the free Cyberlink Media Suite Essentials that Dell offers?

If it's Dell's "Essentials" verson, try downloading it from Microsoft store. If it's the full retail version, you may need to contact Cyberlink tech support directly.

I clicked the Cyberlink Media Essentials for Dell link I posted above and without any warning, it got updated on my PC.

Now when I open (Cyberlink) Power2Go, I get the same "you don't have permission" error. I clicked OK in the error box and it immediately repeated the error. When I clicked OK again, it opened Power2Go, but I haven't tried to use it.

And now (Cyberlink) Power Media Player for Dell doesn't even open, even though it appears in Task Manager after I try to launch it.

Power Director for Dell opens, but I've never used it, so don't know if it will actually work after this update.

Unfortunately, a System Restore won't remove this new update to revert to the previous fully functional version. So now I'm in the same boat.

I just received a brand new Dell DW316 and it came with the CyberLink DVD and I am also unable to install it. I get the same error message stating that 'An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator.' I am the only user on my laptop and I never had an issue running any programs as Administrator or installing anything else.

@Mascavidrio - Is this the full/paid version of Cyberlink Suite on the DVD or the free version Cyberlink Suite Essentials for Dell?

What happens if you change the Windows User Account Controls (UAC) setting to Never? Will it install now, when you right-click the installer file and Run as administrator?

Just don't forget to reset UAC back to the appropriate level for your needs and protection, whether Cyberlink installs or not.

@Mascavidrio​ same thing happening to me.  I changed the user control settings and still getting administrator issue. so frustrating that its happening to so many people and we are the ones wasting our time trying to get it to run correctly.

Will somebody please tell us if this is the free Cyberlink Suite Essentials that Dell installs or if you  purchased the full Cyberlink Suite, and its version number?
