Dell G3 15 plugged in but not charging the battery

Hello.

I've bought my laptop (Dell G3 15) about half a year ago. About a month ago it started to charge only 2-3 seconds than it turned off, again it charged 2-3 seconds and turned off... After 2 week it shows that it's plugged in but not charging at all, only a few seconds after turning on the laptop. I've done a lot of things but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

Thanks :)!

hey. Dont know if you found a solution to the problem or not. Faced the same problem from last week and tried to fix it. Have found temp solution if you want. my first thought was like others to change the battery , adapter etc but the problem i supposed was in the software. Heres how I charged by battery after lots of permutation and combination. So it seems the problem is that the power used by the laptop is more than the ac adapter is providing it, hence the charging doesnt happen and infact over time dicharges the battery. I do the following to charge my battery:

1. Pugin the ac adapter

2. Choose "do nothing " in "what happens when lid closes" while plugged in.

3. on the taskbar, left click the battery icon, set plan to "battery saver"

4. Remove ac adapter jack, left click the battery icon, set plan to "battery saver"

This is to use minimal power which should be less than the power ac adapter in giving to the laptop. Note the battery percentage.

5. Goto "Device manager", "battery", Uninstall both the drivers.

Plugin the jack. The laptop should be charging now but you cant check it as the battery software has been uninstalled. Close the lid. Leave for an hour or so. Open the lid, the battery icon will be back as the software has been auto reinstalled. Check battery percentage , it should be charged more than it was before closing the lid.  Slow but charging.

I have to repeat the process everytime to charge the battery. Works temporarily though. will update i find any other solution.

Do share anyone who has found a solution to it.

I installed W 11 and it messed up my G3 laptop. Plugged in battery wont charge, key board does not work so I have to use a USB keyboard, its almost unusable because its sluggish.

Did everything possible. Next thing Ill try is giving it to a recycler and go back to Apple.

The frustration is not worth the savings.

This worked for me! Battery is charging as we speak!! I don't have the battery icon as you mention. In setting it's showing  the charge is increasing. Thank you!!   (I was getting desperate after replacing the battery this morning, and life was still dwindling.)

I've got the same problem. I've tried everything posted above and searched for weeks across Google and YouTube. I saw one video saying its a common problem with the mother board. Seems shocking dell won't address the this problem that so many people seem to be facing.
