Dell G5 5587 RAM Compatibility
Hello,
I have a Dell G5 5587 configured with 8GB of RAM. I wish to upgrade it so after a bit of research I came across this module from Crucial which claims to be compatible with my laptop. https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs8266/ct12445524 So my question is, will I have any compatibility issues if I buy this module and install it in the second slot? The current module is a SK-Hynix one. Thank you in advance.

It is guaranteed compatible by Crucial and it is fully returnable if it does not work per the Crucial return policy. The absolute best procedure is to buy a kit of 2 RAM modules which will guarantee compatibility and proper dual channel operation. If you are buying just 1 module then make sure it is the same RAM in memory capacity and the same speed.

Welcome to the Dell Community @bill103
One thing many overlook is the same Density.
On some systems it is important.
"If you are mixing new memory with your existing memory, it is best to try to match the memory modules as closely as possible. Startup errors and other malfunctions, though not common, can occur when trying to mix high and low density modules together."
