Dell Inspiron 7570 Keyboard Problem

Question

Hi - Hoping someone can help me with an annoying issue!!!

My Laptop keyboard is doing the most annoying thing, the keys only work if you hold them down for about 1 second, but it then types 5 of that letter/number/space.

I have tried everything I can possibly think of, but no joy. Including drivers/restoring previous weeks settings/ filter keys (and all other settings under ease of access), replaced the keyboard in the laptop....I can use external keyboard fine, and when I access the BIOS screen the same thing happens, you have to hold the key down for 1-2 seconds before it registers the command. Haven't tried a full factory reset as it doesn't seem a software issue to me?

If anyone has experienced this and knows the solution, I will be forever in your debt!!!

I searched thru the community and Internet and could not locate a fix for my keyboard not working...alot of ideas but none worked.

I just found a fix and want to share it.....if the left side of your laptop keyboard is not working (including the caps light not being lit) on the Inspiron 15, 5000 series, do this.....

1. Turn the laptop off

2. Disconnect any USB's to the computer

3. Disconnect the power cord

4. Remove the battery

5. Wait 5 seconds then open the lid and press the on button and hold down for 15 seconds. This resets your BIOS

6. Replace battery and with power cord an USB's still unplugged, turn machine back on and your keyboard should be working normally once again.....then plug in power cord and USB's.

If still the problem persists then try connecting an external keyboard for laptop and still if the problem continues then try updating your keyboard drivers

Worked like a charm for me....hope it helps you too.

Sorry if i come up with a reply you knew almost everyone would come up with. You might have to replace your keyboard like i did. I had the similar issue as yours, it would be exactly the same issue as mine if, the keys that are glitching are in a diagonal pattern (like i k and comma for example,yours would be different) if thats so, i tried my hardest to find a solution as well,resetting bios,cleaning keyboard,reconnecting keyboard,updating bios,reinstalling,updating keyboard drivers, all didnt work for me. after a month or so, the keys that worked only randomly now stopped working or only worked once in a blue moon. then it occured to me that it might have to do with  internal damage to the keyboard itself. what i did was,go for the cheaper option of buying an external usb keyboard. however,what i like about inspiron laptops are that you can EASILY replace internal keyboards that are built in to your laptop. just contact your closest dell support area and ask to purchase one,or get one online if your lucky to get a cheaper price.i reccomend asking dell itself, you dont have to service it as replacing the keyboard is easy as pie if you know how to do it. (u will see 3 or 4 holes in a shape of a line just on the top most part of your keyboard

Thanks, but unfortunately doesn't work for me.

Have tried dismantling the whole laptop, as had to replace the keyboard to test if that was the issue, however still the same issue persists. Appreciate your advice though!

All the keys work, but you have to hold the key down for 1-2 seconds before it registers. The issue then is that it registers 1-2 seconds worth of that key, resulting in 5 of each letter.

For example, if I were to type "Hello" on the laptop it would look like "hhhhheeeeellllllllllooooo"
