DELL INSPIRON SCREEN
I have a 7720 for past 7 years. The screen needs to be replaced because it has horizontal lines across it and the icons all shake around violently. Contacted Dell, but they dont have it i stock, being a 7 year old model. Screen is available, but I find that there are 2 screens for the same model. One has 3D capability, and the other does not. My question is , ' will a non 3D screen work with a 3D screen model.

On this model, the answer is no -- not without major changes -- the connector and cable for the 3D screen is a different size and pin count both on the screen and on the mainboard.
While it may be possible, you will need:
A replacement non-3D mainboard, the display cable and the display itself.
If you really want to take that repair path, it'll be cheaper to replace the system than buy all the required parts separately (and you can very likely buy a much newer used system for far less than the sum of the parts required to repair this one).

I got the non 3D screen. I find that connector at screen is SAME as that on 3D screen

It may be physically identical, but it's electrically very different.
The system model with the 3D option uses a different mainboard from the one that takes a conventional LCD. The displays will not interchange.

So I got a non 3D cable..................... but................. motherboard connector different. Connexion at LCD matches
