Dell Laptop Screen Replacement - from touch screen to non-touch screen

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 i7347. A few weeks ago the screen turned totally black. The computer itself still working.

I saw a similar question posted 4 years ago and the answer was that the entire upper part of the laptop need to be replaced, here-

Can I replace the touch screen to a non-touch screen with my model? (I never used the touch screen anyway).

and more importantly- how much will it cost me?

Thanks

That's a model from 2014. It really would be a waste of money to spend well over $100 to replace the screen. Search for it and you will see mostly used and refurbished screens from private parties. It would be better to put the money towards a new computer IMO. And--Not an easy task. See the service manual-- https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-13-7347-laptop_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

If you have a video out port HDMI try an external monitor to see if it works. Maybe it is not the screen that 's bad. The video might have failed. Make sure the hdmi port is an output. It might be an input that cannot be used for an external monitor. The manual is not clear about this. Then it really would be a big waste of money.
