ERROR 0712: Fan is not working

Inspiron 16 7610

Inspiron 16 7610

Laptop is under 1year and under warrantee. So many times, I see Pre-Boot diagnostic error 0712: Fan is not working. Why would it come? I usually see this when I start it in morning which means for whole night long, laptop was idle. I am not a heavy user even though SPEC is quite high. I feel bad to see such problems after paying cost of high-end but underused laptop. Few months back laptop was completely out of action because mouse track pad was not responding, thankfully it was under warrantee and mouse pad got replaced. I need to get this Fan problem sorted too.

Run the Dell diagnostics outside of Windows -- F12 a few times at powerup.  If you see an error, record it along with the code (2000-0511, etc.) and the validation code.  Then contact Dell support.

Hello,

You can lookup what that error code means yourself here  todo this you need 3 things

  1. The error code (without the 2000 prefix).
  2. The validation code you received from ePSA diagnostics.
  3. Your system servicetag (do not post your servicetag here)

If the system is under warranty, record the error and the corresponding validation code and call Dell support.

If the system is out of warranty, you can contact Dell for a repair estimate, or take the system to the repair shop of your choice.

  • Outside boot diagnostics works perfect. It is somehow an error of normal cold start when laptop is shutdown for several hours and I starts it. Took a screenshot for reference
