G15 5511, randomly doesn't power on
Hello community,
So this has already happened like 3 times, randomly ; both when trying to power on from a shutdown state, or when the laptop is "supposedly" went to sleep, but doesn't wake up. it doesn't power on neither by opening the lid, not by pressing the power button, the side LED that turns on when plugged stays off. Tried pressing power button for 30 seconds but nothing happens. The only way I was able to fix it is by unscrewing the back cover, and unplugged / replugged the battery connector. After that it works again just fine! the battery health is excellent though, it still lasts up to 3 - 4 hours on a single charge. I have the last BIOS flashed since like 2 months (version 1.22.1) and it's been working fine. The issue started happening like a week ago. Anyone experienced this issue and fixed it? Any hints and tips would be most welcome!
Thank you.

What is the exact model number of your system which will help in diagnosing the problem?

Have you tried a reset. Disconnect the battery and the adapter. Then press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and reboot the system.

The battery is a non removable one, I have to unscrew the back cover to get to it. What I did is trying to reset while unplugged, while the battery is still plugged under the back cover, which didn't work apparently, then I reached under, unplugged the battery from the motherboard for a couple of seconds (without trying the reset while disconnected) then reconnected it and it worked again. But still, the issue occurred a couple more times, and I had to go through those steps again to fix it.

If your Dell computer is randomly not powering on, it can be an indication of various underlying issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to identify and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Check Power Source and Connections: Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the computer and the electrical outlet. If you are using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the computer directly into a wall outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.
2. Reset Power Supply: Disconnect the power cord from the computer and remove the battery (if applicable). Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power. Then reconnect the power cord (without the battery) and try turning on the computer.
3. Perform a Power Drain: Shut down the computer completely, disconnect the power cord and any other peripherals. Next, press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to discharge any remaining power. Reconnect the power cord and try powering on the computer again.
4. Check for Display Issues: Sometimes, the computer may be powering on, but the display is not working properly. After turning on the computer, listen for any sounds indicating that it has booted up, and try connecting an external monitor to see if you get a display. If the external monitor works, the issue may lie with the laptop's built-in display or its connection.
5. Inspect for Physical Damage: Carefully examine the power button, power cord, and other components for any signs of physical damage or loose connections. If you notice any damage or loose parts, it may be necessary to contact Dell's technical support or a computer repair professional for further assistance.
6. Test with Different Power Adapter: If possible, try using a different power adapter that is compatible with your Dell computer. Sometimes, a faulty power adapter can cause power issues. If the computer powers on with a different adapter, consider replacing the original power adapter.
7. Contact Dell Technical Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact Dell's technical support for further assistance. They can provide additional guidance, perform remote diagnostics, or arrange for repairs if needed.
It's important to note that troubleshooting power issues can be complex, and if you are not comfortable performing these steps or if your computer is under warranty, it is best to seek professional assistance to avoid causing further damage.

I tried all the troubleshooting steps, and seems to be in order, no red flags whatsoever.
And if it might help diagnosing the problem, since I've got the issue several times, I started shutting down my laptop at the end of every use instead of leaving it to enter sleep mode / energy saving state, and the issue stopped occurring. any thoughts about that? Thanks
