I'm assuming windows 10 is on the computer.....

Type Device Manager onto the search box and check for any drivers listed under Bluetooth in device manager? And check for any yellow triangle listed by the Bluetooth drivers as well? If there aren't any drivers listed under Bluetooth, select 'View' at the Device Manager taskbar, and then Show Hidden Devices.

Also,

Once clicking into the Bluetooth options in the drop down menu, the device status reads

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Thanks for the response!

Bluetooth th shows up after selecting "show hidden devices"

The following options are available once clicking the drop down

- Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)

- Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

- Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator

The three Bluetooth icons are faded and all three have "best drivers available"

Thanks in advance!

Dionj91,

Start the computer and tap the F2 key to enter the bios. Navigate to the Wireless section and verify that Bluetooth is enabled. Save the changes and exit. Check to see if the Bluetooth is working. If not, perform the steps below.

Delete all the instances in device manager for the Bluetooth by right-clicking and choose to uninstall. Reboot the computer and see if the Bluetooth devices are added back. Let me know.

Dionj91,

Did removing and reinstalling the drivers resolve the Bluetooth issue?

Hi DELL-Jesse L,

If I can jump in too, I'm also having the same problem, happened last night, exactly the same symptoms:

1) No Bluetooth icon in the task bar or Bluetooth tile in Windows 10 Action Center.

2) In Settings | Devices | Bluetooth & other devices, no switch to turn on the Bluetooth radio.

3) Recycled Airplane mode using the Action Center tile, and hardware function keys, only affects WiFi, no Bluetooth turning on.

4) In Device Manager, clicked "Show Hidden Devices", saw the same three items as Dionj91:

- Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)

- Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

- Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator

Device status also reads: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

5) Right-clicked and uninstalled, rebooted in hopes that the driver will get reinstalled, no go.

6) Entered BIOS and under "Bluetooth" can only see empty square brackets [] where the device name should be.  All check boxes relating to Bluetooth enabled and checked. Unchecked, rechecked and saved to make sure, since I recently did an important BIOS flash update recently.

7)  Reflashed BIOS and did all of item 6), still nothing.

As a last resort, will try a Windows 10 reset tonight as I'm currently at work, but I suspect the WiFi/Bluetooth card may be faulty.  If it still doesn't work, then it's back to the store for a warranty replacement as the laptop's not even a month old.

Will appreciate it very much if there's anything else you can suggest.

Also, if I may make a suggestion, can you look into the possibility that you may have had a bad batch of WiFi/Bluetooth cards used in these laptops?  This is a relatively new laptop model and only came out around 2 months ago, and for this to happen on two laptops may be isolated, but if more complaints surface on the same issue then this is a problem you need to rectify.

Thanks.

UPDATE: So I did a Windows reset, no go... Did a complete Windows reinstall, still no go, so I'm fairly sure it's the WiFi/Bluetooth card which was the problem. I opened up the laptop to detach my data hard drive to prep it for a warranty replacement from the store I bought it from the next day. On a whim, I decided to take a photo, as I was curious as to what the WiFi/Bluetooth card looked like. I removed it from it's slot, took the photo, and replaced it, and buttoned everything back up again. So I got up to get the box, and in a inspired flash, decided to restart the laptop and see if the removal and replacement of the card did anything. Lo and behold, the Bluetooth icon was back! Drivers installed normally, so installed the official drivers from Dell. As I'm writing this, the Bluetooth is working without a hitch. Reseating the card worked, and I'm hoping that was just the problem with it. So apart from reinstalling every application, I'm glad my Bluetooth is working properly. Here's hoping it won't be a problem again.

This solved my problem, although the Bluetooth checkbox was already ticked in BIOS, i just unchecked and then re ticked the box and then clicked apply.... My Bluetooth was back and running after the boot up was complete.

Thanks for this!

The first time that I deleted and reinstalled the driver, Bluetooth came back.

But Bluetooth stopped gain and now it doesn't accept it the same procedure anymore.

I bought an old wired mouse ($5) because my wireless gaming mouse is waiting for a better solution.

Any help?
