G3 3590 Will not recognize my NVIDIA GPU

My NVIDIA gpu has completely disappeared from my computer and trying to install any kind of nvidia software or drivers will not work because my laptop does not even recognize its own hardware. I have no idea what to do Ive been trying to fix for 2 full days.

Make sure you are installing Dell customized drivers and not the generic drivers from Nvidia. Dell customizes drivers for your specific motherboard. Those rarely are upgraded but any upgrades must come from Dell. Reinstall the original Dell drivers from here-

Check your Device Manager to see what is installed. There are 2 diff Nvidia gpu's

Did you resolve this. I'm having the same issues with the same laptop I bought at Christmas for my daughter. I've tried everything. I'm pretty PC savvy, tried reinstalled all the drivers etc but I always get the message that the GPU isn't present so cant get past the first step. I've now factory reset the PC and still the same issue. No GPU present. It was working fine yesterday. This has happened overnight? crazy!

good day, im having the same problem as you, it started 2 weeks ago, laptop stopped recognizing the gpu and also both fans started to go crazy from silent to super loud all the time, looked for solutions but none seem to work, rolled back the bios and still the same problem, so a couple days ago i opened the laptop and unplugged the battery pressed and hold the power button 15 seconds and plugged the battery again and voiala, it started to use the gpu again BUT i had to do that 3 times now, and it's getting annoying to do that everytime the laptop decides to magically ''unplug'' the gpu.

I have same issue. This is only solution, you just unplug your power adapter and turn off the computer. Plug adapter again and turn on the laptop. However, the problem comes back in 1 hour.

I have been working with support for 3 weeks but they don't know what the issue is and how to solve it.

Got the same issue. I've had my laptop sent to the depot once already for this issue and it's about to go back. I don't know if it's connected but I have a loud fan once this issue occurs. I wish dell would go ahead and acknowledge the issue and provide a real fix. if this laptop cant support the graphics card give me my money back so I can get one that will provide the extended video memory that I need. I thought about getting myself a more expensive laptop just to cover the gap in performance this one is missing, then I think what if the next one does something similar or worse.

Same issue, was working fine until yesterday, then card suddenly vanished. Have updated BIOS, and tried many other suggestions.

Ok so I called dell and they got me no where, If it isnt in a very scope of options they just want it to go to depot. But then i tried to format and reinstall windows clean.... aggravating but i did it and it worked, the graphics card is there again and my laptop isnt being stupid with the fan. So i believe it's a windows update that could be causing the problem but you cant really turn windows update off anymore. I called microsoft and they gave me a link remove any updates that cause me a problem. I now need to let the updates install and then and only then i can remove the one that causes me a problem. Im going to give this a chance it took 1 month worth of updates before it started both times. I'll post something if i figure it out the link to the windows update removal is following.

If you can't find the gpu on devices manager, Use Display Drivers Uninstaller and uninstall old drivers file, after that, install your drivers and restart the PC, it worked for me.

Use Display Drivers Uninstaller

Dear @fff324234, thank you so much! Your workaround was the only way to solve the problem in my case. After following your steps, I could install the specified Dell driver, since the video card became visible again. I will keep an eye open for new issues. Thank you again!

NP. Here is updates. The system crash happened everyday, every hour after first onsite engineer tried to fix it. I sent it to dell depot and dell just exchanged ram memory. But the crash still happened. I sent my laptop to the dell depot again in March 15, 2020, and now the estimated date for fixing and receiving is April 27, 2020. (As of March 30). Dell is the worst manufacture I have ever experienced. I will never buy dell again even in black friday.

Same problem here. Was in game (Mass Effect 3) when the game crashed. Closed game, re-opened, had reduced graphics. Closed down game, checked the Nvidia control panel, got card not detected error.
