G3 3590 Will not recognize my NVIDIA GPU

My NVIDIA gpu has completely disappeared from my computer and trying to install any kind of nvidia software or drivers will not work because my laptop does not even recognize its own hardware. I have no idea what to do Ive been trying to fix for 2 full days.

Hi Bob:  I bought mine in January.  Same issue 3 times.  The last time I discussed that with tech on virtual support.  He said after 30 days, no refund.  Maybe the fix I posted will help.  Maddening, I know.

My card is recognized as GTX1650 but no application will utilize it correctly.Tried calling tech support and of course they want you to reinstall the system which I refuse to do for this. Tried disabling the intel integrated to force the system to use the Nvidia but nothing. Only way it works is plugged up to an HDMI then it will utilize the Nvidia chip.

First time trying to load an actual game just to be disappointment. I knew I should've bought an Asus laptop.

Hi everyone, I really hope your issues got solved, mine didnt. What I detected that Dell support and the technician who did physical tests didn´t was that this problem only happens when you turn on the laptop when it is not connected to the charger.

Maybe the battery doesnt have enough power to supply the GPU, I don´t know, what is weird is that the fans go like crazy every 30 seconds or so when this happens.

Everytime I turn it on while connected to charger, the issue is gone. I got my pc replaced by Dell but it really took a long time.

The trick with holding the power button for 30 seconds worked form me. Let's see how long will it work.

Thanks

Hey, I fixed this problem for myself by opening Device Manager (Windows key + x > control panel > device manager), opening the Universal Serial Bus controllers menu (clicking the dropdown menu to the left of its title), then double-clicking, "NVIDIA USB TYPE-C Port Policy Controller" and unchecking, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." I recommend individually doing this for everything under that Universal Serial Bus controllers tab (though keep in mind some may not have the power management tab, in which case ignore them), as this solution also fixed my headphones needing to be unplugged and re-plugged in again.

Hi. I also face this issue. But have try downgrading the bios, clean install, hard reset, with no hope. My G3 is about 3 years already, so send to dell is not a solution as they will charge for the repair.

Any other idea on what else should be done?

I have managed to resolve my G3 3590 not detecting the graphics card (So far all good) by replacing the 135w charger with a genuine dell. My graphics problem started randomly and then my charger stopped working.

I bought a universal plugged it in, blue screen of death (VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR), appeared the first time using the charger but two weeks later the blue screen never came back and laptop had been running just never noticed the graphics card was missing, until opening steam. I then tried all the solutions provided on this thread, but nothing helped until I replaced the charger.

I then plugged the universal charger back and the issue returned instantly (I most likely just bought a bad universal but went with the genuine the second time)

My laptop is currently 2 years old, so maybe there is a chance that the chargers loose output voltage or wattage and can’t power up the graphics card, but does not explain why on battery the card didn't work either, unless it needs the boost to detect the card again.

I hope this can help others experiencing the problem.

I got my Nvidia GEFORCE GYX 1050 graphics card driver back by unplugging power cord and wait for a minute and reboot holding the power button for 20 - 30 seconds. This solved the problem. This worked for when my Bluetooth driver disappears as well. So it is something to do with BIOS since by rebooting using just a battery resets bios or something. But I know one thing for sure. I am never going to buy dell to try to save like $200. Asus seems to be better I've heard. Probably better than Dell.

I fixed it earlier today by going into device manager-> looking for the Nvidia display adapter-> and right clicking-> enable device. The gpu shows up now

this method works "unplugged the battery pressed and hold the power button 15 seconds" However, every time I put my dell laptop to sleep, it will loose NVIDIA graphic card. I will never buy dell laptop again. I paid decent money but the laptop fan is running hard 24/7.
