G3 3779 Keyboard latency/connectivity issues caused by BIOS update?
Hi,
After installing the latest BIOS update available (currently 1.13.0), I've been experiencing the same problems stated in this thread. The keyboard doesn't properly work and the battery won't charge. I tried to downgrade the BIOS but the update to a previous version is blocked so I'm stuck. Would a recovery of BIOS work to revert to a previous version while this problem is solved in the current one? I'd really thank any advice about what to do to solve this situation.
Regards.

We would request you to please update the BIOS one more time by using the below link and observe the computer’s performance and update us on the issue.

Hi AdrianG001,
The update seemed to go OK but once restarted keyboard keeps having the same issues. Battery doesn't charge either. I'm note sure what was the previous BIOS I had but it seems the problem is there in this 1.12.0. Any other options to make it work?
Thanks in advance.

Hi again,
Reviewing another threads in the forum, I tried to flash the BIOS provided (1.12.0) using a FAT32 USB from the F12 menu. It says in red letters "flash failed due to downgrade blocked" or something like that and the BIOS version shows 1.13.0 so still have the laptop "unusable". Let me know if I can't try something else.
Regards.

Hi,
Should/could I try the BIOS Recovery Image File option to downgrade to 1.12.0? Would it allow me to bypass the blocked BIOS update limitation? Please, advise. I'm a bit desperate to find a solution to this annoying problem.
Regards.

Hi,
Please, can anyone from Dell confirm or deny if BIOS Recovery Image File is a viable option to downgrade to solve my issue?
Regards.

Hi,
Still looking for a solution to this problem. It seems really unacceptable to be forced to use an external keyboard because the one in-built was rendered unusable after updating BIOS.
Regards.

No. They asked me to send them the copy of the invoice for the laptop (not sure why or what for) and they never replied. It's a shame that they put an update of the BIOS like that and completely ignored users affected by it. But it'll be the last time something like that happens to me as that's the last laptop bought from Dell ever.

Hi, my laptop had the same problem, but you can fix it by reinstall your current version (since im using 1.14, cant be downgraded or upgraded).
