Yes.  Which type do you have the M.2 2280 SSD or a full size SSD?  

Either way you can replace it with a 1TB.  

I have an Inspiron 15 gaming laptop and upgraded the M.2 SSD in mine without problems.

My method to upgrade (and the best option).

Image the entire drive (all partitions) to a separate USB connected drive using a disc image program such as the free Macrium Reflect.   Also create a Macrium Reflect bootable USB drive. (Actually, you should already be doing full disc image backups, if the drive hardware fails you are totally lost without the backup).

Replace the existing SSD with the new 1TB SSD.

Boot with the USB drive and then "restore" the disc image to the new SSD.

Boot with the new SSD to verify it all works.

If all is OK you will need to expand the "C" drive partition as the C partition will only be the size of the original (a clone operation which I don't recommend does the same thing).  The free MiniTool Partition Wizard will allow expanding the C partition to the full available size.

This may seem like a lot of extra work but it insures it will be successful.
