HDD to SSD cloning instructions
How to Replace my Main Hard Drive (HDD) with an SSD: Inspiron 3668. Can I use my USB port to clone my drive to the Samsung 870 EVO? When I connect a USB to SATA adapter cable it doesn't seem to recognize the SSD drive and list it in the "devices and Drives" list.

Once plugged in go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management and you have to allocate the drive in order for Windows to see it. At that point you can use Macrium Reflect Free, available here, to image the old drive then restore to the new drive.
