Headphone not detected when plugged in

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-3567 x64 with Windows 10 version 1903.  When I plug in my headphone, it is not detected.  I get sound from the speakers but nothing from the headphone.  I checked for updated drivers in Dell and found Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 6.0.8809.1 x64.  I downloaded and installed the driver and rebooted.  I plugged in the headphone and no sound.  I checked Device Manager - Sound, video and game controllers, and it shows Realtek Audio, not Realtek HD Audio.

I downloaded and installed the driver again, and again, no sound from the headphone.  I tried to access Realtek HD Audio Manager but it will not open.  There is no problem with the headphone because I plugged it into my phone and it works.  I plugged another headphone into the laptop and got no sound.  When I right click the Volume icon in the taskbar, I see Spatial sound (Windows Sonic for Headphones).  I've never seen this before.  Could this be the problem?

Problem has been fixed.  The Waves MaxxAudio Service Application was not enabled.  I went to Settings - Apps - Startup, located the app and turned it ON.

Make sure you have the OS shipped with the equipment installed.

Please try the following:

1) Run the Audio Troubleshooter.

a. Right-click on the Speaker icon in your taskbar

b. Click on Troubleshoot sound problems

c. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm if the issue is resolved

Watch this video for a quick walkthrough: How to Run the Audio Troubleshooter

2) Uninstalling and Reinstalling Audio Drivers Manually

a. Open the Device Manager from your Control Panel

b. Under Sound, video and game controllers, look for Realtek Audio

c. Right-click and uninstall the device. Please check the box next to 'Delete the driver software for this device'

d. Download & install the latest Audio drivers from Dell.com/Support

3)  Enable Waves Waxxaudio

a. Right-click on Start and go to task manager. Click on startup and enable Waves Maxxaudio

Still not resolved? Use the "Get Help Now" option at the bottom right to chat with a Dell technician right away.

Make sure you have enabled other apps related to Realtek in Seetings->Apps-Startup apps. I nmy case i had to enable

1. HD Audio Background process

2. Realtek HD Audio manager

I wish i can just use the Microsoft default audio driver. This is way too complex for diminishing results.

My Inspiron 5559 ( Win 10) has a physical problem with the headphone jack. The three-ring plug headphones that came with my Samsung smart phones will not insert all the way into the Dell Inspiron headphone jack, and it can't work if it is not properly connected. The headphones do fit and work properly with my wife's HP laptop. In addition, m professional-grade audiophile headphones come with a 3.5 mm adapter with two-rings and it fits and works with the Dell laptop. Assuming the smart phone headphones have a standard plug, why won't the Inspiron accept that plug? Is there an issue with the Inspiron headphone jacks?

This helped fix my problem.

But I also had to UNCHECK "Show pop-up dialog when device is connected" in MaxxAudio Pro Advanced settings.
