Increse VRAM on AMD Raedon Graphics (integraded)
Hi, I recently buy this laptop, Dell Inspirion 15 3525 whit an AMD 5 5625u. Good product, but I notice that the VRAM in the integraded graphics are limited to 512Mb what is certenly low. And I want to increse it to at least 1Gb or 2Gb if possible. The laptop has 8Gb of RAM installed, and in the near future I will apply another 8Gb stick to increase performance an longebity in the machine.
I tried to find an option for this in the BIOS, but I did not find any. Is possible that this laptop is limited to that amount of VRAM when the integraded graphics are suppose to support up to 2Gb?

It can cause problems for graphic intensive programs. Your thought about increasing RAM to 16GB would help as 8GB is low depending on your usage.

Yes, I understud this, in integraded graphics memory is shared. I didn't try yet, but is possible that this could cause me issues to open certain programs that recuare more vram? I have seen in other pages that windows allocate more memory when needed. It has been a long time since I had a laptop, and this was an option back then. I don't know exactly how Windows 11 manege this.

The AMD graphics are integrated not discrete and shares the system RAM, it is not possible to increase it as it is controlled by Windows. The discrete GPU is the GeForce MX 550 which has 2GB of GDDR6. Those system specs can be found here.

Having 512mb or 2gb reserved on the Vega has little influence on actual performance, as the difference between single and dual channel is like day and night.
Unlike Desktops, not all notebooks allow you to define the amount of memory reserved for Vega. I believe the minority...
Anyway, any task or game that requires more than the 512mb reserved for the iGPU will use up virtual memory. The performance loss is minimal using an Nvme.
Check how much your processor is consuming during the intensive video task. This Ryzen working with a sustained 25W delivers very close to its maximum potential in graphics-intensive tasks. From 20W it already delivers a good performance.
The quality of the memory modules has a big influence on iGPU performance. Avoid 1Rx16 type modules as these deliver worse graphics performance (20-30%).
