Inspiron 11 3000 Touchscreen not working

Alrighty so my inspiron 11 3000 isn't the most lovable of laptops... I liked its 2-in-one feature the best. Key word: Liked. After having it for maybe six months, the touchscreen became unresponsive. Only now have I dedicated myself to fixing the problem. I've done all the updates (including drivers), and I've ran the troubleshooter many times.. I've even factory reset it. One big problem is that my HIV-compliant touch screen is missing from the device manager list. How can I restart it if it isn't even there?? Now, I really don't know much about computers. But, I can carry out instructions well. Sooo, if anybody has an idea, please share!

Thanks,

~Lydia

These are the 3 methods I found on Microsoft that could help you narrow down the issue

Method 1:
You may try running the Hardware and Device troubleshooter and check if it helps.
a. Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.
b. Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
c. Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.
d. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Check if the issue persists in clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Follow How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot from article KB929135 to reset the computer to normal mode.

Method 3:
I would suggest you to uninstall the touch screen/mouse drivers completely and reinstall in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if that helps. Follow these steps to uninstall the drivers.

a) Move the mouse pointer to bottom left of the screen where you see preview of start menu and Right-click to bring up a list of Windows settings.

b) Select ‘Device manager’ and then locate ‘Mice and other pointing devices’ and expand the same.

c) Right-click on the touchpad/mouse and then uninstall the drivers.

d) Download and install the touchpad/mouse drivers for Windows 7 operating system from the manufacturer’s website and check if that helps.

e) Right-click on the driver and click on ‘properties’.

f) Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

g) Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any issues with Windows in future.

@RuskinF this still doesn't fix the issue because, the troubleshooter says everything is okay and there's no mic and other pointing device, so as the hid-touch screen something.... so please how can we fix this??

The only fix that seems to work for me is with a use of DevManView program.

Install, open it and search "Unknown USB Device" entry, then right click on it and choose Disable Selected Device, and then enable it again in the same manner. This usually reenables my touchscreen function.
