Inspiron 15 3000, broken hinge defect
The hinge broke on my Inspiron 15 3000. Dell is fixing some free of charge if the warranty hasn't expired. I checked and sure enough my warranty has expired so it's on me to pay to get it fixed. I believe that this is a manufacturing/design issue and Dell should stand behind their products. As other people have posted, the computer was not mishandled or abused, the hinge is defective. Mine may well have broken during the warranty period too, except I don't close the cover very often, in fact almost never. Yes, I could have bought an extended warranty, Dell hounded me often enough to do so. I think that if a company produces a good product, you should never need a warranty. I paid a premium price for what I thought would be a premium product, backed by a premium company. This will certainly be the last product I buy from Dell.

dell do a lot of research, innovations, and bring new products to market it may happen for a certain model to have issues but dell is a very good and reputed brand i dont work for dell but i personally love this brand kindly follow these advice
if your laptop is still under warranty, you can contact Dell's customer support and request a repair or replacement. If your warranty has expired, you can still contact Dell and request for repair services, but you would have to pay for it. Alternatively, you could consider getting the repair done from a third-party repair service, if available in your location.

Purchased my Dell Inspiron 15 3000 from Costco upon retiring. Hinge Hinge went bad four months in.
I've used Dell products quite some time and this is a HUGE disappointment, especially as this laptop replaces my work laptop. Will contact Dell customer service and hopefully their customer service is very good.

I had this same problem in early February 2023 and my warranty expired in November 2022. My laptop was one of three computers that I use and it was seldom closed or taken from my home. It was not removed from my desk from September 2023 except to take to Best Buy Geek Squad to get the bad news about repair cost.
This was my first and last Dell computer. I have a Samsung Laptop that is 12 years old and works very well with a more reliable Hinge design.
My laptop WILL NOT EVEN POWER ON NOW AND CAUSED MY POWER PANEL CIRCUIT BREAKER TO TRIP. This is a poor design that Dell should be responsible to repair.

Today I experienced the same hinge failure (right side hinge) resulting in a cracked screen on my Inspiron 14" 7026. I purchased it in late November 2021 & it is out of warranty. I have never abused or misused it in any way. In fact I rarely use it -- mainly used during leisure travel. When travelling it is in a well padded backback that I always carry myself.

Right-side hinge just went on our 15-3000! I'm going to try the epoxy solution, as nothing else is cracked/damaged at this time.
