Inspiron 15 3510, problem with Touchpad replacement
I received the laptop from Dell in February 2022. In March the problem with the mouse touchpad started; erratic movement, uncontrollable, unable to use the device at all. Contacted tech support and spent entire day chatting with tech and performing all kinds of processes per his instructions. Finally, the tech decided the touchpad needed to be replaced and a service call was scheduled, and the part replaced. No significant problems until 2 weeks ago. Same issue occurred, another day spent chatting with tech and performing all types of processes and functions. Device started working, thought all was good. Then last week same thing occurred, contacted support, another half day spent chatting and performing different processes. Started working. Tech decided mouse touchpad should be replaced again. Repair is scheduled for 3 days from now. However, the problem reappeared today and have been trying to use the device. At this minute I am able to type this without interruption. My concern is this: the service warranty expires in February 2023 and I believe this is a defect in the manufacturing of the device that will continue. I have begged for a replacement device. The folks in Dell support are totally against this option. I am absolutely shocked by Dell not standing behind their product and working to satisfy the customer. I am forced to accept their course of action of replacing the part again, something I believe will occur several times between now and February 2023 when the warranty will expire. After that I will have 2 options: (1) Pay for service to repair the problem, or (2) throw this piece of junk in the trash and purchase a laptop from anybody but DELL.
