Inspiron 16 7610, Touchpad random taps and swipes
I have new Inspiron 16 7610 for a month and it has touchpad problem randomly. Touchpad has random taps and swipes, inaccurate finger tracking. I will contact with Dell but wondering is there anyone has that problem or any simple solution for it?

For me, the latest BIOS update (1.2.1) has really fixed this erratic touchpad behavior. There was a firmware update therein which look like it was targeted at the I2C portion of the chipset. But in any case, my 7610 is working much better. I did have to manually update the BIOS - the Dell Update app was not up to the task.

Bad news - I updated my BIOS to 1.2.1 last Sunday (4 days ago). Since then the touchpad issue hit me twice - so no, the 1.2.1 sadly does not solve this problem at all. I can see my cursor getting crazy even after booting in BIOS. To make it worse, Dell just wrote to me (I have an open case regarding this issue) today that the replacement part required to fix it is temporary unavailable and they do not know any ETA when it will become available (I'm not conviced that replacing the touchpad will help, as others already did that and still have the issue). Until this get solved I would never buy this again. I was very satisfied until this problem showed up. At least I was able to convice my friend not to buy Dell - he was about to buy the same model.

i had it happen to me on the bios screen with latest bios installed. I seriously doubt it is a software issue, its now gone back for repair, however there are part shortages with no due date. I've asked for a new replacement, but no response yet.

Where do you live (country)? I thought that the part shortages are local only - I'm in Poland, and was surprised that they lack such basic spare parts as the touchpad in the EU region... I expected a bit more from Dell support when I decided to buy this laptop - I had an impression that Dell support is really good and fast in the past.

I am, also, having this issue. I've gone through support for general troubleshooting, drivers, BIOS, clean boot, enable/disable itc host - which happens to re-enable on boot on my machine. Most of this troubleshooting was not necessary as I have the issue in BIOS but I thought it might be helpful to others experiencing the issue. Hopefully, there will be a fix in the works soon. Most of Dell's focus is on Enterprise and not consumer, and on future R&D, not remediation.
There's most likely one or two guys troubleshooting the issues that are reported across multiple lines and will get to this one once the larger issues have been resolved. Also remember that, while new, this isn't an XPS or Alienware so won't likely get as much attention.
TLDR: Me too.

I also am now having this issue, it seems ok on cold start and then promptly occurs when the machine becomes warm. I don't use the machine for any hard work so it doesn't get that warm and I purchased a cooling stand and it still happens after a few minutes. I have all the relevant software and bios updates.
Did anyone get anywhere with this? I am creating a service request now
