Inspiron 16 plus 7620 audio problem
Hello, I recently bought a brand new dell inspiron 16 plus 7620 and I really love it, but there is a HUGE problem. The audio quality (or rather equalization) with headphones is very bad compared to other devices, it has a lot of bass frequencies and very few treble frequencies, so it's obviously impossible to listen to music with headphones or with external speakers. With the laptop speakers instead the sound is good. I set MaxxAudioPro so that it applies no effects when anything is connected to the headphone input, so i expected to have a clear and "original" sound, but instead it's very bad. I also tried to uncheck the box "Enable Audio Enhancements" in windows settings but it didn't change anything. This is very disappointing, I would like to know if it is a software or hardware problem and if it is possible to fix it. Does anyone with the same model have this problem? Thank you very much, every suggestion is appreciated.

Right-click Start, and then select Control Panel. Under System and Security, click Find and fix problems. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Are your headphones USB? If it is, its software. Assuming these same headphones work better on another laptop.

Hi AdrianG001, thank you for your answer. I ran the troubleshoot tool but with no success, it only suggested to disable all the audio enhancement, I already tried it but with no success.

I would like to add that I tried installing several older realtek drivers and also some microsoft (native) driver but none of them worked. This makes me think is a hardware problem but it would be very strange that a new laptop has such a poor audio card. Also with bluetooth headphones and with HDMI monitors with integrated speakers the audio is ok, so the problem seems to be the headphones input.

Hi Streetmagus, thank you for your answer. No, my headphones are not usb, they have a standard 3.5 mm audio jack, no microphone, and with other devices they work flawlessly.

I am so disappointed in Dell Inspiron 16 plus 7610. as I have the same issue, the speakers are the worst of all the laptops I had. No one can hear me properly over skype, camera is blurry, gets hot after browsing couple of pages.
I wanted to keep it so badly because of the absolutely best display and resolution.
Then I hear Macbook air M1 speakers.
Goodbye Inspiron.

I'm having the same issue. I have high-end headphones and I don't enjoy the audio quality from this machine that I enjoy from even my mobile device. I hope someone figures this out, as I've also tried uninstalling the Realtek Drivers along with MaxxAudioPro, and it didn't help. It sounds like you're listening to audio that is coming from the end of a hallway and there's little bass to speak of.

I have the opposite problem, with the same laptop, 0 Bass sound and terrible lousy quality with the sounds, but if I use the headset via Bluetooth everything is normal.
But I tried to restart the drivers, to configure MaxxAudioPro, and after that delete it, but nothing fix the bad sound, I don't know what could be.

Okay, I got it!
1. Uninstall the driver in "device manager" -> "Sound, video and game controllers" -> "Realtek(R) Audio".
2. The System will require a restart
*At least for me, it only uninstalled the update)
3. Do it again, uninstall the same driver (you will see that you will not have any sound or cannot control the speaker even).
4. Restart the laptop and the driver will install automatically.
After that, I tried the sound with some music I know it has bass and it sounds normal.
I hope it works for you

I have a new Dell 16 7620 as well. Sound from build in speakers was poor, The highs were cutting in and out, similar to turning the volume knob up and down every half second or so. Then I read a solution below and it worked, no more wavy sound.
Here's what I did :

At least in my case, this is a software issue (Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio) reinstalling Win 11 fixes it with sound working again but when Win 11 installs any update sound stops in speakers & physicals headphone jack. I already sent my unit to Dell for repair & it seems all they did (like I did before) was reinstall Windows which unfortunately does not resolve my issue after Windows updates something. My solution for now is just to use a Bluetooth speaker/headphones which works fine.

Fixed! Changing the audio driver via troubleshooter & disabling Enhanced Audio fixed my issue.

Updating the Realtek driver from my C:/ drive did the trick. Dell must have put the updated driver on the HD but didn't tell anyone about it. Now, I can use the Maxx equalization and that makes the sound tolerable.
