Inspiron 5481 Ram Question.

Ok so I know specs seem to claim this 2 - in - 1 only has 1 DIMM slot with a max of 16GB.  Well I went to install a 1TB m.2 SSD and 16GB of ram the other day and found this board has 2 DIMM slots.  Can I then put in another 16GB memory stick and actually run with 32GB?

The specs even claimed that a 1TB m.2 SSD would not work which it clearly does just fine.

I would say chances are good that it will run the 32 GB of RAM as long as you match the current 16 GB you already have at a minimum Timings and voltage has to match exactly Ideally you would get the numbers and name off the current 16 GB and get a true match.

BTW did you get the information about your notebook by your Service Tag number? Model numbers are pretty much worthless as the same models can have quite different hardware Service Tag is for your exact computer.

I can confirm that yes this computer does accept and register 32gb of ram. This weekend I installed two 16gb sticks in mine.   Now I'm interested in  perhaps upgrading to two 32gb sticks.

I can confirm that yes this computer will accept and register 32gb of ram.  This weekend I upgraded to the m2 hard drive and installed two 16gb. memory sticks.  It now registers 32gb (31.8gb  usable)
