Inspiron 5490 Hinge
I bought my two student children Inspiron 5490s in December 2019 (arrived 2020). They have had light use, but the left screen hinge on one has just separated from the screen mounting. The plastic (?) section into which the lug screws fix appears snapped so it is not just a matter of fixing screwing back. Can the screen and lid section be replaced? As well as all of my Dell desktop PCs I've bought four other 5490s for work and none have suffered this problem. Because of the date it is just out of warrantee here in the UK. Any Ideas? Thanks

The answer is yes - and if the system isn't a touchscreen (and the screen isn't broken) you may need only the bezel and back cover. Check EBay (or a local parts seller) -- the parts (absent the screen) should not be that expensive.

Thanks, good to know. Is there a way of identifying the part number for the rear (without disassembling and looking)?
