Inspiron 5502 & D6000 Dock

@WADADLI96  Check the wattage on the power adapter that came with your system.  It should be printed fairly prominently on the power adapter itself.  And then you have to make sure that the 5502 actually supports being charged over USB-C. That is an optional feature, and therefore not all systems that have USB-C ports support this.  The specs of the 5502 say it supports DisplayPort (video output) and "Power Delivery", but USB PD can go both directions, so that claim leaves it ambiguous as to which direction(s) the 5502 supports running USB PD.

Additionally, unfortunately you didn't specify what display setup you plan to run with this dock, but the D6000 is not a great dock choice for reasons I explained in the post marked as the answer in this thread.  And given that your USB-C port supports native video output, you'd have the option of using a "native GPU" dock instead of a DisplayLink dock like the D6000.  The Dell WD19 is one such dock, and it can provide up to 90W to the attached system.  So as long as your display setup isn't any higher-end than dual QHD (2560x1440) or single 4K 60 Hz, you might want to get that dock instead.

And lastly, on a practical note, if you weren't sure whether your dock would operate as you hoped with your system, it might have made more sense to ask that sort of question BEFORE you bought the dock.

Thank you for your response, and yes of course you are correct, however when I bought the laptop, I used the Dell chat function on the website, and was assured this dock was compatible with the 5502, which is why I bought it, and was surprised when it didn't work.  I will now double check the areas you have suggested.

@WADADLI96 - did you ever get to the bottom of this?  I've recently got an Inspiron 5502 and am considering a USB-C dock to power it through the single USB PD port the 5502 has, but only if that port supports 2-way PD.  I know it supports up to 15W power out, just not sure if it will handle the necessary 65W power in.

Yes, all sorted had to use the USBC connector off the USB lead, but working a treat.
