Inspiron 5559 Touch Screen Issues

I have exhausted my efforts trying to fix the touch screen on my Dell Inspiron 5559 laptop.  Here is the problem:  Device Manager keeps refreshing and the touchscreen will appear intermittently under the HID section of the device manager.  I have tried everything from updating the driver, completely reformatting and reinstalling Windows, even replaced the lcd touch screen with a new touch screen as the old screen had a few dead pixels and originally thought that might be the problem.

The screen will intermittently detect my touches but most of the time it fails.  I tried running the Dell Support Assist and ran the test for the touch screen which confirms the screen is not working correctly.  This is driving me nuts because it is causing my icons in the system tray in the lower right corner on the task bar to continuously bounce back and forth from left to right which I suspect is because the touch screen is intermittently being detected.  This laptop is out of warranty.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Check the cable that connects the screen to the system board (it will require  significant disassembly, as the connector is on the back of the screen-- and you'll need to check the cable and both connectors (screen and mainboard).

It sounds like you may have a loose connection (or corrosion on the connector, etc).

I understand, I can try to check, but the screen is working perfectly, what is strange is the tray icons are constantly moving.

I have exactly the same problem.

I think the issue is with the touch screen not connecting properly. If you look at the event viewer under administrative events it is reporting a corrected error on the PCI express root port about 1-4 times a second. So I think it is connecting then disconnecting as an input device constantly.
