Inspiron 5570, overheating? #1

I recently bought a brand new Dell I5 5570 and have been having troubles with it since day one.

The problem that I am facing now is overheating issues. I don't play games or do anything on the laptop that would be burdensome to the laptop. I use it for minimal things such as Microsoft word or Excel. Even whilst I am not using it, the CPU temperature is hovering from 70 -90 Degrees Celsius.

Please keep in mind that I have done the following:

* I have deleted old BIOS update and installed new one

* Deleted and Installed Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework.
* Cleaned dust around fan (Although there was minimal because it is new).

I don't want the typical old run around. Could someone please just help me. Fix this problem, or give me warranty on this laptop.

What did Dell Support suggest? How recently did you buy the computer? It has a one year warranty on hardware.

One mistake you made was changing the bios. Dell bios and drivers must be used since they are customized for your board. Laptop drivers are rarely if ever updated. Reinstall the original bios.

Thank you for your message. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I will be glad to assist you with this.

Run a stress test on CPU & GPU in Dell Support Assist application & check if there is any thermal error detected.

Download & save Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework (IDPTF) driver from the support site.

Open device manager- expand IDPTF – right click on the driver & click on uninstall (check the box that says delete driver). Do not restart the computer, install the IDPTF driver saved on your desktop.

Update the BIOS (even if you have the latest version)

For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
